Most homes waste power without ever knowing it.
The average household has no real-time visibility into which appliances are consuming the most power, when peak usage happens, or what small changes could meaningfully reduce monthly bills. Energy use is invisible — and what you can't see, you can't manage.
HomeSync was conceived as a mobile-first solution to that problem: bringing clarity to home energy in a way that feels intuitive rather than technical.
Everything you need. Nothing you don't.
Every feature in HomeSync maps directly to a real behaviour or pain point observed during research. Nothing was added speculatively.
Real-time notifications
Instant alerts when an appliance is left on too long, exceeds a usage threshold, or behaves unexpectedly.
Appliance-level breakdowns
See exactly how much each connected device is consuming — by hour, day, or month — not just a total household number.
Smart scheduling
Set appliances to run during off-peak hours automatically. Lower bills, same results.
Eco-mode automation
One-tap eco mode adjusts multiple devices simultaneously based on pre-set efficiency preferences.
Usage trends & insights
Understand patterns over time. The app surfaces actionable insights, not just raw data.
Clarity over complexity.
The design challenge wasn't making the data available — it was making it legible. Energy data is inherently technical. The goal was to surface meaningful numbers in a way that any household member could act on without needing to understand the underlying metrics.
Mobile-first, thumb-friendly layouts —
Every interaction was designed for one-handed use. No buried settings, no dense tables.
Minimal cognitive load —
The home screen shows only what matters right now — not everything at once.
Clear data visualisation —
Bar and ring charts were chosen over more complex visualisations because they communicate faster.
Warm, residential feel —
The UI palette avoids the clinical, industrial aesthetic common to smart home apps. HomeSync should feel like home.
